just out of curiosity, if you have as much rationale as you appear to have, then why is that you believe in god?

Because we all see this world through different eyes. Me? I have seen and felt things in my life that I can't deny. Nothing that would hold up in a court or a lab, but I believe there is more to life than that. I feel a presence of what I call God every single day of my life. Maybe I'm delusional, but I don't think I am.

But as far as rationale, I respect science and logic. I am curious about the world. I see these as tools to help guide us to the best understanding of the world possible. But I don't see them as the only tools. I also don't see them as the enemies of faith or disproving the existence of God.

In short, I don't believe in praying instead of calling o modern medicine. I believe in doing it in addition to it. And I believe God gave me a brain and a conscience to use them.

i don't think you're delusional either but the brain is capable of fantastic things and isn't it possible that this feeling you get is simply your brain acting on what you experience everyday and it's telling you it's god? i mean, what is this feeling like exactly? liek something is far greater and wiser and bigger than you are? or somethign liek that?

yes, but bud, you're still basing your beliefs on something that was taught by you and not from self exploration.Myself, the older I got, the more I read the bible, the more things I discovered that didnt work.Self exploration got be to be atheist based on what I know not what was taught to me.I used to be a bigtime christian. Now I'm free.Good luck anyway in your quest

That's the thing though. I wasn't really taught. At least not on the scale that some are. I was taught some very basic things. Things that I later rejected. I rejected everything.

Started back from zero. Said to hell with everthing I thought I knew or used to believe. What do I honestly believe to be true. And from there, my beliefs, not just about God but also life and the world, started evolving by me exploring ideas and listening to other perspectives and deciding for myself what I honestly believe to be true. Thank for the comment. I really appreciate it. Have a nice day. :-)

Christian here my friend. I also don't go to church. Mainly because of what churches have become. Churches use to be an extension of ones family, now they seem more like measuring sticks. If you are'nt living a certain way they judge you it seems. The only thing I really disagree with is the Bible being the inerrant word of God. I believe God to be "perfect" in everyway. I don't believe God would allow His word to be tainted by us. God knows what we are capable of.
