scenoschis ::: Favorites Yes, I agree completely, if you don't know or understand what the props are for or who the candidates are and what they are planing to do once in office, then DON'T VOTE. Knowledge is the true power, once one has attained this, then things will be clear. However, if you feel compelled to vote, VOTE FOR ME! 06-11-01 11:05:23 _____________________________________________________

bassandit ::: Favorites A better site is vote-smart DOT org which has voting records as well but is much more complete and has links to the actual texts of the bills, rather than just synopses (which can be biased). 06-11-01 18:44:55 _____________________________________________________
bassandit ::: Favorites I'm also going to have to totally disagree with your message here. Every one of us could be better informed about the candidates and issues, however, NO ONE votes without some idea of why they are voting the way they are. The suggestion that people are voting cluelessly is a straw man. 06-11-01 18:58:25 _____________________________________________________
bassandit ::: Favorites If everyone actually followed your advice, the rich would all vote and the poor would not, because poorer people do not have the time and resources to become as fully informed as richer people. Poor people would then be totally unrepresented, and this would be contrary to the goal of democracy. If someone cannot take the time to become fully informed on the issues, then it's better to listen to the advice of a trusted friend than to not vote at all, and have no voice. 06-11-01 19:15:43 _____________________________________________________ |
