There is no single verse in the Qur'an that prescribes an earthly punishment for apostasy.Verses about apostasy in the Qur'an speak only about God's punishment of the apostate in the Hereafter.Let us look at Noble Verse 27:92 "And to rehearse the Qur'an: and if any accept guidance, they do it for the good of their own souls, and if any stray, say: 'I am ONLY a Warner.'"

Apostasy,"riddah" in Arabic, literally means defection or backsliding. It means denouncing Islam as one's religion by a Muslim. There has been a wide variety of opinions "Ijtihad" by Muslim scholars throughout nearly 14 centuries concerning punishment for apostasy, But Not obligatory representing 100pc the teachings of Islam.

cryintale: It has nothing to do with Jesus (PBUH) divinity. My comments were about Paul, Was Paul a Lair?. To be an apostle of Jesus(PBUH), it was necessary that one be appointed directly by Jesus. The original 12 apostles received their appointment directly from him. The word apostle derives from a Greek verb that means "to send." So, Paul fabricated his visions of Jesus (PBUH) to be accepted as an apostle.

To be frank,there are many intelligent Moslems who are unsure abt Islamic truths but seek solace when they seek someone, especially, a non-believing caucasian men or women convert to Islam. The word revert is not fairly used as the religion affirms there is no compulsion. Using "revert" instead of "cnvert" does not show this flexibility. I can understand the argument for fitra but let's be fair.
