Description:

Here's another good question for you that many people have opinions about. As well as my opinions about it included in this video too.

Then our assumptions are different, we are just going to have to disagree.

Hi, and thanks for addressing this issue. I think that you have a few flaws in your reasoning; those being that: 1. You don't explain what constitutes 'human life'. 2. -See next post(stupid 500 character rule)-

Just because something will not become something else does not change what it is. If those embryos ARE life then they are life. Because they would not be allowed to develop completely doesn't make them any less alive. For analogy I submit: I believe slavery to be wrong. By your argument I should not object to the slavery of slaves who will probably not be free at some point in the future. Since these slaves can never be free then they are not free people, whereby they are not fully human.

And I'm sure that analogy makes perfect sense to you. But let me ask you this. how exactly would you modify that analogy to illustrate in this stem cell issue that it is more humane to take these stem cells that will never be part of a human being and destroy them as a opposed using them to help the sick and dying. Because that is what is currently happening. These excess embryos are being essentially thrown in the trash and that is supposedly more humane i guess. makes no sense to me.

Well, I believe that the embryos shouldn't be there in the first place so I admit that I don't have a good answer for that except that I can't condone something I believe to be a violation of human dignity and life in a situation created by another violation of human life.

And I know it seems like a good cause to help the sick and dying. I'm all for non embryonic stem cells which are the only ones that I have ever heard of effective medical treatments coming from. I just don't believe in the exploitation of helpless humans to save other helpless humans. To me it seems to defeat the purpose.

I respect your right to your views. People look at this in many different ways. You have to follow what you think is right. So do I.

okay all you anti stem cell people - the embryos used for stem cell research are obtained from in vitro fertilzation clinics. the embryos are going to be destroyed anyways because so many extra are created. why dont we just use them for research instead of wasting them? and if theyre already being destroyed why arent you throwing bitch fits about them already being destroyed every day at fertilization clinics?

my point exactly. They're playing it off as though it is somehow more moral to destroy these stem cells than to use them to help create wonderful cures for the sick
