The Germans split the atom. The Americans first created a chain reaction with it. So the US refined it to make it useful. Yes, the V1 technology evolved into the space rockets, but again, the US refined it so it was possible. Can't send people to the moon with a bigger version of the V1. Too unreliable, unsafe, etc.. It might have broken down, but someone was smart enough to design it to be serviced in space. The first to be able to do so.

lol, i remember that it were the germans, who made the states able to build the atom bomb und fly to the moon. by the way, the hubble broke down during the first use... ;-)
