karoauk ::: Favorites TM consists of keep repeating in your mind a word, a mantra, they say. Can be any word, in the TM classes they give your mantra (for life) based on a board related to your age. The mantra have a loose rhythm, and cant be related to your breath. if does, you are not letting the mantra echoing in the sole space of the mind. you have to let flow any thoughts, any sensations, you cannot block them, and you cannot pay attention to them. 20 minutes, more or less, twice a day. 06-09-18 19:44:01 _____________________________________________________

dianebofoz ::: Favorites It's a hard thing to explain. When I do what is called a "sitting" excersize or listening to sound, a yoga excersize you really do feel a beauty within and a feeling of being part of something bigger. It can change the whole way you approach your day, but you are still a part of the world. 06-11-21 04:58:12 _____________________________________________________

kwixotic ::: Favorites As helpful as TM is, the danger for the novice is getting too attached to the occasional blissful sensations/experiences that arise. 07-06-18 02:43:25 _____________________________________________________
ArJuna22 ::: Favorites Agreed, I have meditated for 22 years. I am not connected to any religion, in fact I am opposed to organized religion. Religion is a personal thing and meditation helps you connect to the source of creative intelligence. Praying is talking to God, meditation is listening. TM is not a religion, but the mantras are all names of Hindu gods. I dropped the mantra years a go. Silence is best. 07-07-08 01:08:24 _____________________________________________________
ArJuna22 ::: Favorites You absolutely can learn from a book or website. I paid many thousands for TM, but it is not necessary. All it is is sitting quietly and silencing the mind "gently". It is good to have something to fall back to when thoughts arise, like a mantra or your breath. Do not force your thoughts to stop, be gentle. There, I just saved you thousands, and you don't even need the book now. 07-07-08 01:11:53 _____________________________________________________
ArJuna22 ::: Favorites There are no "higher stages" of meditation. I have been through the advanced TM techniques and it is not much different than anyone sitting quietly. Yes, it is powerful, and as you learn to settle the mind down further and further you reach a point of total awareness. At this level you can tap into some amazing human abilities. To get there requires regularity & commitment, not higher stages of meditation. 07-07-08 01:17:21 _____________________________________________________

kirk7524875248 ::: Favorites Thanks arjuna22. I've felt that all along. Man is that commmitment, that discipline of regularity hard to achieve, and hard to keep up. But thanks for your words. -Kirk 07-08-02 08:30:31 _____________________________________________________ |
