Either way, the line says that the father won't object to the marriage because the suitor is not rich. qwertyTRiG ::: Favorites That's an interesting thought which hadn't occured to me. I'm familiar, of course, with the phrase /payment in kind/, but I hadn't thought of that meaning of the word. I'd always taken it to mean 'payment of the same kind': you give me something and I'll return the favour without any money changing hands.
