This crash occured September 9, 1990 at Salgareda (a small village near Treviso, Italy) airshow. Pilot Rimantas-Antanas Stankevicius was killed. He misestimated a loop maneuvre, and although having the opportunity to eject, he didn't. He probably knew that if he had ejected he might have caused another Ramstein tragedy, thus he tried to save the day. However he didn't make it. A security guard was also killed by the fireballs of the exploding aircraft. RIP to those 2 persons.... Excerpt from video "Test pilots. Survive in an accident" (Летчики-испытатели. | FanFisique 2008-03-24 16:23:27 I believe, and in a similar way to the SU-27 of Ukraine, the plane suffered engine overheating, and thus losing much of its thrust on its almost vertical climb. I can´t understand why the pilot did such an "optimistic" maneuvre, I don´t get what he was thinking about, I guess he was so much confident that missed his true altitude. The other thing I can´t get is why he didn´t ejected...what was going on on his mind? Blinded by his Big Mistaque? I guess he just lost his situational awareness.
