Description:

Me playing through 9-4. The japanese phrase spelled out in the blocks says "Arigato!" or "Thank you!". In order to get to World 9, you have to beat Lost Levels without warping at all.

In the FDS version, you have to beat the game eight times and then use the continue code (hold A and hit Start) to access A-D. A star will appear on the title screen to indicate you beat it. To get to world 9, complete the game without taking a single warp (negative warps included).

It took me so long to catch the "arigatou!" spelled out in katakana the first time.

World 9 was in the FDS (Famicom Disk System) version of SMB2. You had to beat the game with no warps to get to it. Worlds A-D were additions for Super Mario Collection (Super Mario All-Stars in the US). That beat the game x times thing is bogus.
