i love the dead, but i thought this was a Jerry Garcia Band song, cuz i had the album...Wheels? was it called..dont remember..but it had some great tunes on it

Raindep, you're close. Mickey's dad was not deceased but had stolen from the band (which caused Mickey to go into a self-imposed exile until 1975). The song is about the elder Harts' embezzeling escapade (steal your face right off your head).

With all due respect to Brent Mydland, I like the 1972 line-up with Kieth Godchaux on piano and Ron "pigpen" McKernan on organ. Donna was cute too!
