Description: In this scene Ivan Lebedeff (as Mischa) plays a piano roll so the dinner guests think his hands are busy on the keys. He chooses the Duo-Art recording of Rudolph Ganz playing "Liebestraum" (Dream of Love) by Franz Liszt. This allows him to make out with Rita La Roy (as Madeline Austen). The movie "product placement" technique didn't help sell expensive Duo-Arts when this was released June 1, 1930. Too bad theyu didn't have a roll of Ganz playing his own "After Midnight, Op. 27, No. 1" since the movie is titled "Midnight Mystery." |
