Description:

www.random-international.com PixelRoller is a paint roller that paints pixels, designed as a rapid response printing tool specifically to print digital information such as imagery or text onto a great range of surfaces. The content is applied in continuous strokes by the user. PixelRoller can be seen as a handheld "printer", based around the ergonomics of a paintroller, that lets you create the images by your own hand.

How could it know where to paint? Either it just paints an image from wherever you start(but re-doing an area dosnt change the picture) or some boundarys would need to be computed into the PC.This is the only part that i cant understand.

google pixel roller. there's a web site for it. I found pictures of a prototype made with lego parts, and it used light to excite phosphorous, so it wasn't permanent but made a glow in the dark picture. there is a wheel on each side of the roller, that's what keeps track of the position. as a result, you must keep the roller in constant contact with the surface being painted.

Dont think so, It is obviously picking up the image from under that very thin piece of paper, I mean come on wake up. Probably just paint water or alcohol onto the paper. Don't see it used on a wall or floor.

i am assuming the backing on the roller some how tracks not only the position of the roller on the surface, but all movement, including change of position, turns, and stroke length. if so, then this is truly a novel idea. but if it's just laying paper on a raised image and applying a light coat of paint, then poopoo on you!!
